On Monday, 27/04/2026, His Excellency Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received Mr. Tommaso Sansoni, Consul General of Italy in the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting، the latest political and security developments in the region، confronting the threats and dangers of ISIS and the issue of reform and reunification of the Peshmerga were discussed.
In another topic of the meeting، the focus was on the development of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq with Italy، as well as the complex situation in the region and the impact and consequences of the war that has been raging in the region for some time، in which the two sides stressed the importance and continuation of diplomatic efforts in order to establish stability and find a peaceful solution.
Issues between Baghdad and Erbil، as well as the process of forming a new government cabinet in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and presenting the latest efforts and steps of the process، were another topic of discussion.
