On Monday, December 8, 2025, the Vice President of the Kurdistan Region,Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, received Andrew Beasley, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, and an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting، they discussed the latest situation in the Kurdistan Region and the security situation in Iraq، as well as the formation of a new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq.
The two sides stressed the importance of continuing relations between the UK and the Kurdistan Region, and later discussed the recent terrorist attack on the Kormor gas field, which they described as a destructive and dangerous act on the infrastructure of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
Erbil-Baghdad relations and the ongoing problems between them and the process of reform and reorganization of the Peshmerga were also addressed at the meeting.
